The Quarrying Industry
- North Bornholm’s Granite Adventure
For nearly a century, the breaking and processing of granite was a major local industry on Bornholm.
At its peak, 800 quarrymen worked in the island’s quarrying industry.
Stone blocks from the quarries Hammerbruddet and Moseløkken were shipped out from Allinge Harbour.

Around the year 1971, however, operations ceased at the quarries on Bornholm.
However, the Moseløkken quarry near Allinge is occasionally active for special orders.

Moseløkken also has its own museum.
